Scaniam has seven booth games that attendees play on their own phone after scanning your QR code - Spin the Wheel, Scratch Card, Flow Free, Quiz / Trivia, Image Quiz, Memory Match and Trick or Treat. You pick one game per event in Game Setup and choose whether it plays before or after the survey. Each attendee plays once, and every game is on every plan.
What Scaniam booth games are and when to use them
A Scaniam booth game is a short game an attendee plays on their own phone as part of your event survey. Scaniam is gamified event lead capture and booth CRM for event marketers. The game gives people a reason to scan your QR code, and the survey turns each player into a lead with contact details and answers.
Each event has one game, or no game. You choose it in Game Setup on the event, set its prizes, and pick whether it plays After survey or Before survey. The attendee plays in the browser, with no app. Whatever happens in the game, an attendee who sends the survey gets a gift code and a barcode to show at your booth.
Use a luck game when you want something fast that anyone can play in seconds. Use a skill game when you want players to think about your product, or when you want a leaderboard contest or better prizes for better scores. This page helps you choose and covers the rules every game shares. Each game has its own page with its settings and prizes. For the pitch, see Scaniam booth games.
The Scaniam booth games
| Game | Type | What the attendee does |
|---|---|---|
| Spin the Wheel | Luck | Watches a prize wheel spin by itself and stop on their prize. |
| Scratch Card | Luck | Scratches a silver card with a finger, or taps Reveal my prize, to show their prize. |
| Flow Free | Skill | Connects pairs of colored dots on a grid until every cell is filled. A faster solve scores higher. |
| Quiz / Trivia | Skill | Answers multiple-choice text questions you write, one at a time. |
| Image Quiz | Skill | Answers questions whose answer options are pictures you upload. |
| Memory Match | Skill | Studies a board of cards, then finds every pair from memory. Fewer tries and a faster time score higher. |
| Trick or Treat | Skill | Picks one door, answers a few questions drawn from it, then sees the points revealed: a Treat or a Trick. |
In a Scaniam luck game, Scaniam decides the prize by your odds and the wheel or card reveals it. In a Scaniam skill game, the attendee plays first, then Scaniam checks the result and decides the prize. The /games directory calls luck games Chance, and tags Quiz / Trivia and Trick or Treat as Knowledge and Image Quiz as Visual; all three are skill games.

The rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| One game per event | Each event has one game, or none. In Game Setup, switch Game off for no game, or pick No game when you create the event. |
| Every plan | Every game is on every Scaniam plan, including Free. |
| One play per person | Each attendee plays once. A returning attendee sees the result they already got and does not play again. |
| Own phone | The attendee plays in the browser on their own phone. There is no app. |
| When it plays | After survey ("Survey → game → gift") is the default. Before survey is "Game → survey → gift". |
| Winning journey | Skill games add a Winning journey: Everyone wins, Leaderboard contest and Score tiers. Luck games draw a prize by its odds. |
| Results are checked | Scaniam checks that a result is genuine before a prize is given. |
| Unplayable games | Game Setup will not save a switched-on game with no prizes, or a quiz with no questions. |
| Changing the game | Clicking Change and picking a game, even the same one, resets the game's settings, including quiz questions and doors, and can reset the Winning journey. Click Save game config only when you mean it. |
| Host Station | Entries staff fill at the Host Station skip the game. |
| Test runs | Plays from Test Survey use the real odds but take no stock and are not entered in a leaderboard. |
Game before or after the survey
After survey. The attendee answers your survey and taps Submit & Play Game. Luck games show "You earned a game!". After the game the attendee lands on their gift code screen. A winner sees "You won!" with the prize. Everyone else sees "You're all done!". There is no separate result screen.
Before survey. The attendee plays first. Luck games show "Play to Win!". When the game gives a prize, a result screen shows "You won!", "Your prize" for a consolation prize, or "Better luck next time" for a "Try again" slice, and the attendee taps Continue to Survey. A winner then sees "You won: [prize]! Fill in your details to claim." above the survey. A skill game player with no prize goes straight to the survey. Trick or Treat shows its own ending instead of the result screen. The attendee gets their gift code after Submit. Turn on Auto-advance to survey ("Advances to the form after 3s without a tap") to move on by itself after a 3-second countdown on the button. This setting shows only for Before survey.
With Before survey, a player who leaves without sending the survey is not a lead and does not count toward your monthly responses. A prize they won was still given when they played. If they come back on the same phone, they continue with the survey.
If you wrote a survey intro, its cover screen still shows first. Its button reads Start when the game comes first.
The game intro screen
The Scaniam game intro is an optional screen shown right before the game, in both orders. Set it under Options, then Game intro (optional): a title, a text such as how to play or what you can win, and a Button label (default "Play"). It looks like the survey cover screen, with your logo and one button. Leave the title and text empty for no intro screen.
Leaderboard contests and the booth screen
In a skill game, pick Leaderboard contest under Winning journey to rank players by score or time. The top ranks win your winning prizes when you close the contest and click Resolve & Award, and TV View on the contest card opens a live leaderboard for a screen. The settings, ranking and what staff see are on Scaniam leaderboard contests.
To put your QR code, prizes and live charts, plus winners and leaderboards when you run a game, on a TV at your booth, with any game or none, use the Scaniam booth screen.
What happens if...
| If ... | Then ... |
|---|---|
| The game crashes on the attendee's phone | They see "The game couldn't load on this device. Your progress is safe - tap below to continue." Continue takes them to the survey (Before survey) or their gift code (After survey). |
| The connection drops while the game talks to Scaniam | Scaniam shows "Your connection dropped." with Try again. If it still fails, a luck game ends with "The game could not load. Show your gift code at the booth." and a skill game with "We couldn't confirm your game result. Show your gift code at the booth and staff will check." Scaniam never shows a prize it did not award. |
| The game is loading or a skill result is being checked | The attendee sees "Preparing your game..." or "Checking result...". |
| Every prize has been given out | Luck games are skipped with "All the game prizes have been given out. Show your gift code at the booth." The gift code still works. |
| Your event has a live registration page and the event has not started | The game opens at the event. Game Setup says "Attendees can play from the event day." Before then, attendees see "The game opens at the event. Come back to play." and still get their gift code. When they come back on the same phone, Scaniam offers the game once. |
| An attendee submitted the survey but never played | When they open the survey link again on the same phone, Scaniam offers the game once, then shows their gift code. |
| Staff fill the survey at the Host Station | The game is skipped. The entry never wins a prize. |
| You want to try the game before the event | Click Test Survey on the event dashboard. Test plays use the real odds but take no stock and are not entered in a leaderboard. |
How to set up a booth game
- Open your event from Events.
- Click Event Settings, then Game Setup.
- Turn on the switch next to Game. The line under it reads "Attendees play a game around the survey."
- Under Game, click Change and pick a game.
- Add the game's own content: questions for Quiz / Trivia and Image Quiz, doors for Trick or Treat. Each game's page has the details.
- Under Prizes, set your prizes. See Scaniam prizes and stock.
- For a skill game, pick a Winning journey.
- Open Options to choose When it plays, write a game intro and change the game's own settings.
- Click Save game config. The button shows Saved! when your changes are saved.
If the save fails, Scaniam names the problem, for example "Add at least one prize, or switch the game off." or "Add at least one quiz question, or switch the game off."
You can also pick a game when you create an event (the Add a game? step), or from Library, then Games, then Use in Event. A new Quiz / Trivia or Image Quiz event starts with the game off: switch it on in Game Setup, add your questions, then save.
Which plans
Every Scaniam booth game is on every plan, including Free. Plans differ by monthly responses: see pricing.
Common questions
Can an attendee play the booth game more than once?
No. Each attendee plays the Scaniam booth game once. An attendee who comes back to the survey sees the result they already got. If they submitted the survey but never played, Scaniam offers the game once.
Do attendees need an app or a tablet to play?
No. Attendees play in the browser on their own phone after scanning your QR code. There is no app to install. Staff who fill the survey for an attendee at the Host Station skip the game.
Can I run more than one game at the same event?
No. Each Scaniam event has one booth game. To run a different game, change it in Game Setup or create another event.
Can players cheat at a skill game?
Scaniam checks that a result is genuine before a prize is given.
Which Scaniam booth game should I pick?
Pick Spin the Wheel or Scratch Card when people have only a few seconds and you want prizes drawn by odds. Pick a skill game (Flow Free, Quiz / Trivia, Image Quiz, Memory Match or Trick or Treat) when you want players to think, better prizes for better scores, or a leaderboard contest.
Can I show a leaderboard on a screen at my booth?
Yes. Pick Leaderboard contest as the winning journey of a skill game, then click TV View on the contest card. A booth screen can also show a live leaderboard on a TV.
