Scaniam Image Quiz is a skill game where each question is a line of text and the answer options are 2 to 4 pictures you upload. You mark one picture Correct and give the question 1 to 100 points; pictures must be JPG, PNG or WebP under 3 MB. The attendee taps a picture, then Next, on their own phone. The score is the points earned out of the quiz total, and with score tiers a higher percentage of quiz points wins a better prize. Image Quiz is on every plan.
What Scaniam Image Quiz is and when to use it
Scaniam Image Quiz is a booth game where the attendee answers multiple-choice questions whose answers are pictures. Scaniam is gamified event lead capture and booth CRM for event marketers, and Image Quiz is one of its skill games: the player's picks decide their score, and the score can decide the prize.
You write each question as a short line of text, upload 2 to 4 pictures as the answers, and mark the Correct one. The attendee plays on their own phone, one question at a time, as part of your event survey. Whatever their score, an attendee who sends the survey gets a gift code to show at your booth.
Good for: spotting your logo, your product or your booth, and other questions whose answer is a picture. Not for: answers that need words or numbers (use Quiz / Trivia), or a booth without pictures ready to upload. The pitch for the game is on Image Quiz.
Image Quiz scores and awards prizes the same way as Scaniam Quiz / Trivia. Rules every game shares, such as one play per person, playing before or after the survey, the game intro screen and test runs, are on Scaniam booth games.
The rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Questions | Each question is text only. There is no limit on how many you add. |
| Pictures | 2 to 4 pictures per question. A new question starts with 4 empty slots. The x on a slot shows only while there are more than 2; Add image option shows only while there are fewer than 4. |
| Upload rule | JPG, PNG or WebP, under 3 MB each. Pictures show as squares, cropped to fill, in Game Setup and on the phone. |
| Captions | Caption (optional) under each picture. A caption shows under the picture on the phone. |
| Correct picture | Exactly one picture per question is Correct, shown with a green border. A new question marks its first picture Correct until you pick another. |
| Points | 1 to 100 per question. A new question starts at 10. |
| Nothing empty | Game Setup will not save a switched-on Image Quiz with an empty question or picture slot. The error names it, for example "Question 2 has no text." or "Question 2 has no picture in slot 3." |
| Tap, then Next | The attendee taps a picture to pick it (a check mark shows) and can change the pick until they tap Next, or Submit on the last question. With no time limit, Next stays greyed out until a picture is picked. With Time per question set, tapping Next without a pick skips the question, like Skip this question. There is no going back. |
| No right answers shown | The player is never told which pictures were right, and is not shown their score, except in a leaderboard contest, where the closing note shows their points. |
| Score | The score is the points the player earned, out of the quiz total. Score tiers use the percentage of quiz points earned. A leaderboard contest ranks players by points. |
| Score for staff | Each play since October 2026 shows its score in the response as "Game score", for example 30 of 40, and in the Game Score column at the end of the event CSV. |
| Results are checked | Scaniam checks that a result is genuine before a prize is given. |
| Pictures are public | Anyone who opens your survey can see the quiz pictures. Do not upload confidential images. |
Image Quiz settings
Scaniam Image Quiz has four settings under Options, in "Image Quiz settings". They take effect when you click Save game config.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Time per question | "Seconds to answer each question. 0 = no limit." From 0 to 120 seconds. When it is set, the player sees a countdown and, until they pick a picture, a Skip this question link. When time runs out, a picture they picked counts even if they did not tap Next. A skipped question, or one with no pick when time runs out, earns no points. |
| Shuffle question order | Each player gets the questions in a different order. |
| Shuffle image options | Each player gets the pictures of each question in a different order. Turn it on so the Correct picture is not always in the same place. |
| Show feedback between questions | After each answer, "Answer recorded. Get ready for the next one!" shows and the other pictures dim, then the next question opens by itself. It never says whether the pick was right. |
On a quiz whose questions were saved before October 2026, Time per question shows "Off on this quiz until you change the time and save." That quiz has no time limit until you change the time and click Save game config.
How prizes are decided
Scaniam Image Quiz has three choices under Winning journey, the same as Quiz / Trivia. Prize odds, quantities and consolation prizes work as on Scaniam prizes and stock.
Everyone wins (the default). Every player who finishes gets a prize drawn by its odds, whatever their score. A new Image Quiz event starts with T-Shirt, Sticker Pack and Try Again.
Score tiers. Better scores win better prizes. Each winning prize "wins at [ ] % or more", from 0 to 100, because "Scores are the share of quiz points the player earned." A player below the lowest tier gets your consolation prize; with none, Game Setup warns, for example, "Players below 30% get nothing - add a consolation prize." If a prize runs out, the next tier down is given instead, never a higher one.
Leaderboard contest. Players compete and the top ranks win. Ranked by shows Highest score, which is total quiz points, not the percentage. On a tie, the player who finished first ranks higher. A player with no instant prize sees "You're on the leaderboard - score N. Winners are announced when the contest closes." See Scaniam leaderboard contests. A published booth screen can show the Image Quiz leaderboard on a TV.
What happens if...
| If ... | Then ... |
|---|---|
| You never pick a Correct picture on a new question | The first picture is the Correct one. |
| You remove the Correct picture | The first remaining picture becomes Correct. |
| You want a fifth picture | Not possible. A question takes up to 4 pictures. |
| You pick a file that is not JPG, PNG or WebP, or one of 3 MB or more | It is refused: "Couldn't upload that image. Use a JPG, PNG or WebP under 3 MB." |
| You upload a wide or tall photo | It shows cropped to a square. |
| You save with an empty picture slot | It is not saved, and the error names the question and slot. Upload a picture or remove the slot. |
| You save a switched-on Image Quiz with no questions | It is not saved: "Add at least one quiz question, or switch the game off." |
| The attendee taps the wrong picture first | They can tap another one before Next. |
| A player gets every question wrong under Everyone wins | They still get a prize drawn by its odds, or the Try Again prize (no prize). |
| You click Change and pick a game, even Image Quiz again | Your questions and Image Quiz settings are cleared. Nothing is lost until you click Save game config. |
| You edit questions during the event | Players who already had the page open may answer the old questions and be scored against the changed ones. Finish your questions before the event goes live. |
How to set up an Image Quiz
- Open your event from Events.

- If the game is not Image Quiz yet, click Change under Game and pick Image Quiz.
- Under Questions, click Add question and type the question.
- In each picture slot, click Upload and choose a JPG, PNG or WebP under 3 MB. Click a picture to replace it. Add a Caption (optional) if it helps.
- Click Correct under the right picture, and set Points: from 1 to 100. Remove slots you don't need with the x, or click Add image option for up to 4.
- Under Prizes, set your prizes. Add a consolation prize if every player should get something.
- Under Winning journey, pick Everyone wins, Leaderboard contest or Score tiers, and set the scores or ranks.
- Open Options to set Time per question, the shuffle settings and feedback, and to choose When it plays.
- Click Save game config. The button shows Saved! when your changes are saved. If a question or picture is missing, Scaniam names it.
- Click Test Survey on the event dashboard to play the quiz as an attendee would.
You can also pick Image Quiz when you create an event (the Add a game? step), or from Library, then Games. The Library shows a sample picture, not a playable quiz: "Add your quiz questions in the event's Game setup to play." Click Use in Event to start an event with it.
Which plans
Image Quiz is on every Scaniam plan, including Free. Plans differ by monthly responses: see pricing.
Common questions
What pictures can I use in a Scaniam Image Quiz?
JPG, PNG or WebP files under 3 MB. Other files are refused with "Couldn't upload that image. Use a JPG, PNG or WebP under 3 MB." Pictures show as squares, cropped to fill, so square pictures work best.
How many pictures can a question have?
2 to 4. A new question starts with 4 empty picture slots. Remove the ones you don't need with the x on the slot; Add image option brings one back.
Does the attendee see which picture was right?
No. The Scaniam Image Quiz never tells the player which pictures were right, and is not shown their score, except in a leaderboard contest, where the closing note shows their points.
Can I see each player's Image Quiz score?
Yes. Open a response on the event dashboard to see its Game score, for example "30 of 40". The event CSV has a Game Score column at the end.
Can I put a picture in the question itself?
No. The question is text only. The pictures are the answer options, with an optional caption under each.
Can I try the Image Quiz before the event?
Yes. Click Test Survey on the event dashboard and play it as an attendee would. The Library preview is a sample picture, not a playable quiz.
