Scaniam Quiz / Trivia is a skill game where the attendee answers multiple-choice questions you write, one at a time, on their own phone. Each question has 2 to 6 options, one correct answer and 1 to 100 points. The score is the points the player earned, out of the quiz total, and with score tiers a higher percentage of quiz points wins a better prize. The quiz is on every plan.
What Scaniam Quiz / Trivia is and when to use it
Scaniam Quiz / Trivia is a booth game where the attendee answers multiple-choice questions that you write. Scaniam is gamified event lead capture and booth CRM for event marketers, and the quiz is one of its skill games: the player's answers decide their score, and the score can decide the prize.
You write the questions in Game Setup on the event. For each question you set the options, mark the correct one, and give it points. The attendee plays on their own phone, one question at a time, as part of your event survey. Whatever their score, an attendee who sends the survey gets a gift code to show at your booth.
Good for: questions about your product, your market or your talk, and prizes that reward knowing the answers. Not for: a booth where people want a one-tap game (use Spin the Wheel), or questions with picture answers (use Image Quiz). The pitch for the game is on Quiz / Trivia.
Rules every game shares, such as one play per person, playing before or after the survey, the game intro screen and test runs, are on Scaniam booth games.
The rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Questions | Text questions only. There is no limit on how many you add. |
| Options | 2 to 6 options per question. Add option hides at 6, and an option can be removed only while there are more than 2. |
| Correct answer | Exactly one option per question is correct. A new question marks its first option as correct until you tap another circle. |
| Points | 1 to 100 per question. A new question starts at 10. A 20-point question counts double a 10-point one. |
| Empty text | Game Setup will not save a switched-on quiz with an empty question or answer. The error names it, for example "Question 2 has no text." or "Question 3 has an empty answer." |
| One question at a time | The player sees "Question N of M", a progress bar and options lettered A to F. Tapping an option moves on by itself. There is no going back. |
| No right answers shown | The player is never told which answers were right, and is not shown their score, except in a leaderboard contest, where the closing note shows their points. |
| Score | The score is the points the player earned, out of the quiz total. Score tiers use the percentage of quiz points earned. A leaderboard contest ranks players by points. |
| Score for staff | Each play since October 2026 shows its score in the response as "Game score", for example 30 of 40, and in the Game Score column at the end of the event CSV. |
| Results are checked | Scaniam checks that a result is genuine before a prize is given. |
| Plans | Quiz / Trivia is on every Scaniam plan, including Free. |
Quiz / Trivia settings
Scaniam Quiz / Trivia has four settings under Options, in "Quiz / Trivia settings". They take effect when you click Save game config.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Time per question | "Seconds to answer each question. 0 = no limit." From 0 to 120 seconds. When it is set, the player sees a countdown and a Skip this question link. A skipped or timed-out question earns no points and moves straight to the next question. |
| Shuffle question order | Each player gets the questions in a different order. |
| Shuffle answer options | Each player gets the options of each question in a different order. The order stays put while they answer. |
| Show feedback between questions | After each answer, "Answer recorded. Get ready for the next one!" shows briefly, then the next question opens by itself. It never says whether the answer was right. |
On a quiz whose questions were saved before October 2026, Time per question shows "Off on this quiz until you change the time and save." That quiz has no time limit until you change the time and click Save game config.
How prizes are decided
Scaniam Quiz / Trivia has three choices under Winning journey. Prize odds, quantities and consolation prizes work as on Scaniam prizes and stock.
Everyone wins (the default). Every player who finishes gets a prize drawn by its odds, whatever their score. A "Try again" prize can still be drawn for a perfect score. A new quiz event starts with T-Shirt, Sticker Pack and Try Again.
Score tiers. Better scores win better prizes. Each winning prize gets a box: "wins at [ ] % or more", from 0 to 100. When you pick Score tiers, Scaniam fills starting scores: 80% for one prize, or 80% and 30% for two, spread evenly between for more. A line below reads, for example, "80 to 100%: T-Shirt · 30 to 79%: Sticker Pack · below 30%: Candy". A player below the lowest tier gets your consolation prize. With no consolation prize, Game Setup warns "Players below 30% get nothing - add a consolation prize." If a prize runs out, the next tier down is awarded instead, never a higher one. Under Score tiers, each prize's odds field reads Awarded by score, and Quantity still applies.
Leaderboard contest. Players compete and the top ranks win. Ranked by shows Highest score, which is total quiz points, not the percentage. On a tie, the player who finished first ranks higher. A player with no instant prize sees "You're on the leaderboard - score N. Winners are announced when the contest closes." See Scaniam leaderboard contests and, for a TV at your booth, the Scaniam booth screen.
What happens if...
| If ... | Then ... |
|---|---|
| You do not tap a circle on a new question | The first option is the correct answer. |
| You remove the option marked correct | The first remaining option becomes the correct answer. |
| A player gets every answer wrong under Everyone wins | They still get a prize drawn by its odds, or "Try again". |
| A player scores below every tier | They get your consolation prize. With none, they get no prize. Their gift code still works. |
| The prize for a player's tier runs out | They get the next tier down that has stock. If no lower tier has stock, they get the consolation prize or nothing. |
| Two prizes are set to the same score | Scaniam moves the later one down a step and says so, for example "Two prizes had the same score - Sticker Pack now wins from 79.99%." |
| A timed question runs out, or the player taps Skip this question | That question earns no points, and the next one opens. |
| You save a switched-on quiz with no questions | It is not saved: "Add at least one quiz question, or switch the game off." |
| You click Change and pick a game, even Quiz / Trivia again | Your questions are cleared. Nothing is lost until you click Save game config. |
| You edit questions during the event | Players who already had the page open may answer the old questions and be scored against the changed questions. Finish your questions before the event goes live. |
How to set up a Quiz / Trivia game
- Open your event from Events.
- Click Event Settings, then Game Setup.
- Turn on the switch next to Game. A new Quiz / Trivia event starts with the game off, and Questions shows only when it is on.
- If the game is not Quiz / Trivia yet, click Change under Game and pick Quiz / Trivia.
- Under Questions, click Add question. A new question has 4 options; remove the ones you don't need. Type the question, type each option, tap the circle next to the correct option ("Mark as correct answer"), and set Points: from 1 to 100. Click Add option for up to 6 options.
- Under Prizes, set your prizes. Add a consolation prize if every player should get something.
- Under Winning journey, pick Everyone wins, Leaderboard contest or Score tiers, and set the scores or ranks.
- Open Options to set Time per question, the shuffle settings and feedback, and to choose When it plays.
- Click Save game config. The button shows Saved! when your changes are saved. If a question or answer is empty, Scaniam names it, for example "Question 2 has no text."
- Click Test Survey on the event dashboard to play the quiz as an attendee would.
You can also pick Quiz / Trivia when you create an event (the Add a game? step), or from Library, then Games. The Library shows a sample, not a playable quiz: "Add your quiz questions in the event's Game setup to play." Click Use in Event to start an event with it.

Common questions
Can a Scaniam quiz give better prizes for higher scores?
Yes. Pick Score tiers under Winning journey in Game Setup and set the percentage each prize needs, for example 80% or more for a T-shirt and 30% or more for a sticker pack. A player who scores below every tier gets your consolation prize if you have one. If a prize runs out, the next tier down is given instead, never a higher one.
Does the attendee see which answers were right?
No. The Scaniam quiz never tells the player which answers were right, and is not shown their score, except in a leaderboard contest, where the closing note shows their points. With Show feedback between questions on, the player sees "Answer recorded. Get ready for the next one!" between questions.
Can I see each player's quiz score?
Yes. Open a response on the event dashboard to see its Game score, for example "30 of 40". The event CSV has a Game Score column at the end.
How many questions can a quiz have?
Game Setup has no limit on the number of questions. Each question has 2 to 6 options. Keep the quiz short enough to finish at a booth.
Can I add a picture to a question?
Not in Quiz / Trivia, which is text only. Use Image Quiz when the answer options should be pictures.
Can I time each question?
Yes. Set Time per question under Options in Game Setup, from 1 to 120 seconds, or 0 for no limit, and save. The player then sees a countdown and a Skip this question link. A skipped or timed-out question earns no points.
