Scaniam Scratch Card: how the reveal works, prizes and settings

Updated Oct 18, 2026

Scaniam Scratch Card is a luck game. The attendee scratches a silver card on their phone with a finger, and once enough of it is scratched the card clears and shows the prize Scaniam picks by the odds you set. Scratching more or faster does not change the prize. You set how much must be scratched with the Reveal threshold, from 30 to 90 percent, 65 by default.

What Scaniam Scratch Card is and when to use it

Scaniam Scratch Card is a booth game where the attendee scratches a silver card on their own phone to reveal their prize. Scaniam is gamified event lead capture and booth CRM for event marketers. Scratch Card is a luck game: Scaniam decides the prize by the odds you set, and the card shows it. Scratching more, faster or in a different spot does not change the prize, and the phone cannot choose its own prize.

The card plays before or after your survey, like every Scaniam booth game. Whatever the card shows, an attendee who sends the survey gets a gift code and a barcode to show at your booth. The shared game rules, such as one play per person, the game intro and test runs, are on Scaniam booth games.

Good for: calm, one to one moments where each attendee plays on their own, and prize lists with a few big prizes and many small ones. Not for: events where you want players to compete or show what they know. Use a skill game for that. For the pitch, see Scratch Card.

The rules

Rule Detail
Luck game Scaniam picks the prize by your odds. The card only reveals it.
The card A silver card with "SCRATCH HERE" across it. Under the card: "Scratch to reveal your prize" and a Reveal my prize button.
How to play The attendee scratches with a finger, or with the mouse on a computer. The scratched part shows the prize underneath.
Reveal threshold Once enough of the card is scratched, the rest of the silver layer fades away and the prize shows on the card for a moment. Then the attendee moves on to their result by themselves.
Reveal my prize Tapping the button clears the card at once. The prize is the same as scratching would show.
What the card shows The prize name in white capitals on the prize's Color (your brand color when the prize has none). A winning prize also shows 🎉. A "Try again" prize shows "Try again" under its name (once, if the name already says it). A consolation prize shows only its name.
Odds Each prize's Weight (probability) sets how often it comes up ("Higher = more likely"). The % beside each prize in Game Setup is its share of the plays while every prize is in stock. A consolation prize has no %: it is given only when nothing else can be. Guaranteed prizes are on Scaniam prizes and stock.
Setting range Reveal threshold is 30 to 90 percent, 65 by default. A lower number shows the prize after less scratching. A number outside the range is set to the nearest limit when you leave the field.
One look The card looks the same at every event. There is no card theme. The prize Color is what changes.
Prize photos and descriptions Only the prize name is on the card. The Description shows on the win screen. A prize's Photo is not shown to the attendee. It is for the booth screen.
No winning journey Scratch Card has no score, so it has no Winning journey, no score tiers and no leaderboard contest.

What the attendee sees

While the card loads, the phone shows "Preparing your game".

Game after the survey. After Submit & Play Game, the phone shows "You earned a game!" and "Thanks for filling in the survey. Play to see what you get!" above the card. When the card has revealed the prize, the attendee goes to their gift code screen:

  • A winning prize: a trophy, "You won!", the prize name, its description and confetti.
  • A consolation prize: "You're all done!" and "Your prize:" with the prize name.
  • A "Try again" prize: "You're all done!" only.

Game before the survey. The phone shows "Play to Win!" and "Scratch Card - see what prize awaits". After the reveal, a result screen shows "You won!" with confetti, "Your prize" for a consolation prize, or "Better luck next time" for a "Try again" prize. The attendee taps Continue to Survey. A winner then sees "You won: [prize]! Fill in your details to claim." above the survey.

In both orders the gift code and barcode show at the end. A voucher prize also shows "Your voucher code" with Copy code. See Scaniam prizes and stock.

What happens if...

If ... Then ...

You lower the Reveal threshold The prize shows after less scratching. The change applies to the next plays after Save game config.
The card reveals a "Try again" prize The card shows "Try again" under the prize name (once, if the name already says it). There is no "You won!" and no confetti. The attendee still gets their gift code, and staff see there is nothing to hand over.
You have an unlimited "Try again" prize and a consolation prize The consolation prize is given only when nothing else can be. An unlimited "Try again" prize can always be drawn, so the consolation prize is never given. Give the "Try again" prize a Quantity, or remove the consolation prize.

Common questions

Does the attendee have to scratch the whole card?

No. In Scaniam Scratch Card the card clears by itself once enough of it is scratched. You set how much with the Reveal threshold, from 30 to 90 percent. The default is 65 percent.

Can an attendee play the scratch card without scratching?

Yes. Under the card there is a Reveal my prize button. It shows the same prize as scratching, so it works for people who cannot drag a finger or who use a keyboard or screen reader.

Does scratching faster or more change the prize?

No. Scratch Card is a luck game. Scaniam picks the prize by the odds you set, and the card only shows it.

Can the attendee reload the page to get a new card?

No. Each attendee plays once. Closing or reloading the page does not give a new card or a new prize.

Can I change how the scratch card looks?

No. The silver card looks the same at every event. What changes is the prize underneath, shown on the prize's own Color, or your brand color when it has none.
