The Scaniam booth screen is a live web page for a TV or laptop at your booth. You design up to 4 slides that rotate, and your survey QR code shows on every slide and cannot be hidden. Slides can show a live leaderboard, the latest winners, a live counter, your prizes, Trick or Treat door scores and live charts of your survey answers, using first names only (and the company if you choose), never emails or phone numbers. It is on every plan.
What the Scaniam booth screen is and when to use it
The Scaniam booth screen is a live page you open on a TV or laptop at your booth. Scaniam is gamified event lead capture and booth CRM for event marketers. The booth screen pulls people walking past into the booth: it rotates through up to 4 slides, and every slide carries your survey QR code, so anyone looking at it can scan and join.
Slides are built from blocks. A block can show your prizes, a live leaderboard, the latest winners, a live counter, a text message, an image, partner logos, Trick or Treat door scores or live charts of your survey answers. The numbers move as people play, and a win can set off confetti across the screen.
You design the screen in the Booth screen editor of each event. Edits save as a draft, and the TV changes only when you publish. The TV page needs no sign-in: anyone with its link can open it, so set it up on any screen with a browser.
Use the booth screen with any event: with a luck game, a skill game or no game at all. What you can put on it depends on the event's game (see the rules below). Booth game rules that apply everywhere, such as one play per person and test runs, are on Scaniam booth games.
The rules
| Rule | How Scaniam handles it |
|---|---|
| Where it runs | A web page made for a 16:9 TV. Open it in any browser on a TV, laptop or stick. It is not listed in search engines and uses no tracking cookies. |
| Draft and publish | Edits save automatically as a draft. The TV shows the published screen only. Publish and turn on (when Off) or Publish changes (when Live) sends the draft to the TV. |
| Turning it off | Turn off switches the screen off and keeps your design. Publish and turn on brings it back. |
| The QR code | On every slide, and it cannot be hidden. It opens the event's survey. You choose Left or Right, Top, Middle or Bottom, Medium or Large, and the label under it (default "Scan to play", up to 40 characters). |
| Slides | Up to 4. Each slide has a layout: One block, Two halves or Wide + narrow. With more than one slide, dots at the bottom show which slide is on. |
| Slide time | Each slide shows for 8 to 60 seconds (default 15). A slide with a live chart stays longer, so each of its questions gets a turn. |
| Header | Your logo (the dark-background logo when you have one; your workspace name when you have no logo), a title (default the event name, up to 80 characters) and a pulsing LIVE dot. Untick Show the logo to hide the logo. |
| Look | Your brand colors and font. Background: Dark, Brand color or Image (your own upload). |
| Images | JPG, PNG or WebP, under 3 MB. |
| Names shown | A first name, or first name and company for a game leaderboard set to First name + company. Never a last name, email or phone number. |
| Locked players | A player whose response is locked (over your plan's monthly limit) shows as "Attendee" on the leaderboard and "Someone" in winners and celebrations. |
| Test runs | Plays and answers from Test Survey never appear: no names, scores, counts, wins, stock or chart answers. |
| Live numbers start at publishing | Plays, wins, leaderboard scores and prize stock are counted only while a published screen shows them. Charts are filled at once from every answer so far. |
Blocks and which events can use them
| Block | Offered when | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Prizes | Always | Every winning prize, or up to 6 prizes you tick, in the order ticked. A prize photo shows big; without one, a gift icon in the prize's color. With no prizes: "Prizes to be announced. Scan to play." |
| Text | Always | A headline (up to 80 characters) and a short message (up to 600 characters, bold works). |
| Image | Always | One image, Fill or Fit. |
| Logos | Always | An optional title and up to 12 logos, each on a white tile. |
| Leaderboard | Score games (Trick or Treat, Quiz / Trivia, Image Quiz, Memory Match, Flow Free), or any event running a leaderboard contest | The top 3 to 10 players (default 5), one row per player with their best score. A tie goes to the earlier play. Empty: "Be the first on the board!" |
| Latest winners | Any game | Up to 5 recent wins, "[first name] won [prize]" with "just now", "N min ago" or "N h ago". Empty: "The first winner could be you!" |
| Live counter | Any game | People who played or Prizes won, with your own label. |
| Door scoreboard | Trick or Treat | Points and players per door, a Leading badge on the door ahead on points (none on a tie), and after each play "Someone just got Tricked!" or "Someone just got a Treat!" with the door's name. |
| Live charts (what people think) | The survey has a Single choice or Checkboxes question | One question at a time, as Bars or Donut, each option's share in percent with a star on the leading option. |
Prizes, wins and stock. "Every winning prize" leaves out consolation prizes and "Try again" prizes, and those are never counted or celebrated as wins. With Show "Only N left!" when a prize runs low on (the default), a prize that is running low gets an "Only N left!" badge. That count moves each time someone wins that prize while the screen is on. Prize rules are on Scaniam prizes, odds and stock.
Leaderboards. A game leaderboard shows Best scores in this game. With a leaderboard contest on the event, the block can show Contest: [name] instead, with that contest's ranking, "Closes in ..." and then "Final standings". First name + company applies to Best scores in this game. Contest rules are on Scaniam leaderboard contests.
Win celebration. With Celebrate every win on screen on (the default), each win shows confetti and "Winner! [first name] just won [prize]" over any slide for a few seconds. A win from before the TV page was opened is never celebrated. Contest rank prizes given at Resolve & Award are not celebrated.
Live charts. Tick Every choice question (N) (the default) or pick questions. Show after 1 to 50 answers (default 10) sets when the chart appears. Until then the chart area stays and shows "N answers so far. Scan to add yours!". A custom title is available for a one-question block only.
What the booth screen shows about people
The Scaniam booth screen is public in the same way as your survey page: anyone with the event's link can read what the TV shows, not only people standing at the TV. It never shows emails, phone numbers or last names, and never ties an answer to a person.
- Game leaderboard: only the players the board shows (up to the number you set in Show the top), with their first name and score. The company is included only when a game leaderboard block on the published screen is set to First name + company. Turning the screen off, or publishing a screen with no game leaderboard, takes the leaderboard down. If you turn the game off or change it, the TV stops showing the leaderboard, but the leaderboard's names stay readable until you publish again or turn the screen off.
- Latest winners and celebrations: the first names of recent winners with their prize. These stay readable after you turn the screen off.
- Counters, door scores, prize stock and charts: totals only, never names.
- Contest leaderboards follow the contest's own rules: see Scaniam leaderboard contests.
With the game before the survey, the name is not known when the person plays, so winners and celebrations say "Someone". The leaderboard row gets the first name once the survey is sent. Deleting a response takes that player off the leaderboard, and a winner line for them reads "Someone". The Privacy Policy and Scaniam data and privacy cover what is public across Scaniam.
What happens if...
| If | Then |
|---|---|
| The TV loses its connection | "Offline - reconnecting" shows on the screen. The screen catches up when the connection returns. The page asks the TV to stay awake where the browser allows it. |
| The screen is off or was never published | The TV page says "The booth screen is off for this event." |
| The link is wrong or the event no longer exists | The TV page says "This screen is not available." |
| Nobody has played yet | The leaderboard says "Be the first on the board!", latest winners says "The first winner could be you!" and counters show 0. |
| A chart has fewer answers than Show after | The chart area stays and shows "N answers so far. Scan to add yours!" with a progress bar. |
| A chart shows a Checkboxes question | Each ticked option counts as one answer, so the answer count and the percentages are shares of all ticks, not of people. Charts read most simply with Single choice questions. |
| You add a choice question to the survey later | A chart block set to Every choice question shows it too, without publishing again. |
| The event runs over more than one day | Counters and leaderboards run from when you published the screen and do not reset each day. The default labels say "today" ("Top players today", "people played today"), so change the label for a multi-day event. |
| You turn the game off or change it | Blocks the new game cannot feed (door scoreboard, leaderboard, latest winners, live counter) are left off the TV, while the editor still shows them. If no block is left, the TV says the screen is off. The leaderboard's names stay readable until you publish again or turn the screen off, so publish again (or click Turn off) after changing the game. |
| The event is paused or over | The TV keeps running. New people who scan the QR code see that the survey is closed. Click Turn off in the editor when the event ends. |
| You run Trick or Treat with Big screen for a TV on | The TV keeps showing a big screen even with no published booth screen. Turn off in the booth screen editor does not blank that TV: also switch Big screen for a TV off in Game Setup. Door totals count plays from when that switch was turned on and saved, or from when a Door scoreboard is on a published screen. |
| A Trick or Treat event has no background image | The game's background picture shows unless you choose Image and upload one. Dark and Brand color both show it. |
What the booth screen is not
- It is not digital signage for any content. It has up to 4 slides, fixed layouts and no video block, and the QR code is always on screen.
- It is not an app. It is a web page that runs in a browser.
How to set it up
- Open the event dashboard. Click Links & QR, then Booth screen ("Design the TV screen for your booth"), or click the Booth screen row in Booth tools. On a Trick or Treat event you can also click Design the booth screen (slides, prizes, logos) in Game Setup.
- The first time, the editor starts from the Booth game template for your event's game. To start over, click a template under Start from a template and confirm: "Replace your slides with this template? The QR code and your settings stay."
- Booth game: "The game scoreboard, then the gifts." Trick or Treat adds a door scoreboard slide, score games add a slide with Top players today and a counter, and every game ends on a prizes slide. A luck game gets the prizes slide only.
- Prizes: "The gifts, big, with a short message."
- Welcome: "A message and your partner logos." Add your logos to its logos block.
- Poll: "Live charts of your survey answers." With no choice question in the survey, it is a text slide asking you to add one.
- Under QR code, choose where the code sits and its size, and edit the label.
- Under Header and timing, set the title, Show the logo, Celebrate every win on screen, Each slide shows for [N] seconds and the background.
- Under Slides (N of 4), pick each slide's layout and each block's type, then fill in the block. Use the arrows to reorder slides and Add a slide for another. Changing a block's type starts that block fresh.
- Check the preview on the right. Click Slide 1, Slide 2 and so on to see each slide. The preview uses sample numbers: "Sample numbers - the real ones appear when people play."
- Click Publish and turn on. The status changes to ● Live.
- Click Open screen to open the TV page in a new tab. Open the same address on the TV's browser and make it full screen.
- To change the TV later, edit and click Publish changes. The top bar shows · Unpublished changes until you do. To stop the TV, click Turn off.
If saving, publishing or an upload fails, the editor shows a red message saying what to do, for example "Couldn't upload that image. Use a JPG, PNG or WebP under 3 MB."
Contest TV view. Click TV View on a leaderboard contest's card to open its own TV page in the same style; see Scaniam leaderboard contests.
Trick or Treat. For door totals, put a Door scoreboard block on the published screen. Game rules are on Scaniam Trick or Treat.
